Imphal, September 29 2023:
Many more MLAs of the ruling and Opposition parties have rushed to Delhi today to attend the joint meeting of Youth of Manipur (YoM) and elected representatives of the valley districts to discuss the months-long crisis in Manipur.
A 25 member delegate of YoM had met the MLAs camping at New Delhi on September 24 and urged the latter to work out a solution to the ongoing conflict.
The meeting of September 24, however, ended without taking any concrete resolution as some of the MLAs claimed that they couldn't take concrete decisions in the absence of the Chief Minister.
After the meeting ended inconclusively, YoM said that they won't return to Manipur unless there is a solution to resolve the crisis and called another meeting of all the MLAs of the ruling and Opposition parties on September 30 (4 pm) at New Delhi.
The Sangai Express has learnt that MPCC president K Meghachandra, Congress MLAs Th Lokeshwar and Okram Surjakumar have flown to New Delhi while former Chief Minister O Ibobi and Congress MLA K Ranjit may join the other party MLAs at the National capital tomorrow morning.
It, however, is not known whether Chief Minister N Biren Singh will attend the meeting or not.
MLAs of the ruling parties K Govindas, Dr S Ranjan and Th Shanti have also landed in Delhi today.
Thangmeiband AC MLA Kh Joykisan has also conveyed that he will be in Delhi in time for the meeting tomorrow.
Pressure on the elected Members of the House has been mounted considerably more after bodies of two young students who were kidnapped by Kuki militants started surfacing on social media just a few days back drawing condemnations.
