Senapati, September 29 2023:
The Senapati District Students Association (SDSA) demanded immediate resumption of internet activities in its areas and warned of intense agitation and severe consequences if their demands are not fulfilled at the earliest.
The student body condemned the State Government's order dated September 26, 2023 suspending immediate data services in the entire State just after two days of restoration of mobile data services which was shut since May 3 after the outbreak of the unfortunate communal clash in the State.
In a press release, SDSA President, Peter Yunuo stated that the student body acknowledges the importance of keeping vigilant of any unlawful activities of the use of the internet.
However, to suspend its uses in areas unaffected by conflict is a gross violation of human rights.
It is the duty of the Government to ascertain that these services are being availed by its citizens without interruption, added the release.
It may be noted that the student body apprised the Chief Minister on July 12, 2023 to endorse Senapati District as a green zone by taking into consideration the interest of the students' community and the citizens of Senapati.
SDSA expressed shock over the rationality of the recent order without any consideration which is a blatant negligence of their plea.
'The failure of many applicants to sit for compartment exam(s) for HSLC in our area is due to suspension of internet services', lamented the student body.
