Imphal, September 29 2023:
The Organising Committee of Public Assembly for Restoration of Peace in Manipur has asked all BJP office bearers, members, Corporators/Councillors and Nagar Panchayat Members elected on BJP tickets to resign from BJP.
The committee has also asked all political parties and legislators to withdraw support from the BJP-led Government.
Speaking to media persons at Singjamei Wangma Bheigyabati Leikai today, the committee's spokesman Kh Indrajit appealed to all the people to remove/pull down banners and posters of BJP leaders put up at public places and boycott the 'Swacchata Hi Seva' programme.
The Organising Committee of Public Assembly for Restoration of Peace in Manipur held a meeting with office bearers of BJP Manipur Pradesh a few days back.
But the demands placed by the committee at the meeting have not been translated into action till date.
At the same time, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is not sparing even five minutes to listen to the legislators of Manipur, he said.
The people of Manipur need not support any political party led by such a Prime Minister, he said.
Indrajit clarified that the committee does not harbour personnel enmity with any individual nor has any intention to create disunity among the people.
"The committee's campaign is guided by the collective interest of Manipur and the growing need for all of us to exert strong pressure on the Centre in a single voice", he said.
No one should try to link the massive protest witnessed in the State today against the cold blooded murder of two young students with the scenario of President's Rule, he said.
He also demanded restoration of mobile internet service at the earliest.
