Imphal, December 06 2023:
Shiv Sena which is an ally of BJP and a partner of the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has categorically stated that there are external hands in the protracted Manipur crisis.
Shiv Sena flagged off two ambulances at its State unit office, Babupara today.
Speaking to media persons by the sideline of the flag off ceremony, Shiv Sena National Secretary Captain Abhijit Adsul said that the Centre must work sincerely and explore a political solution to the more than seven months old Manipur crisis and bring durable peace in the State.
He said that CSOs and political parties must be consulted in any initiative of working out a solution to the protracted crisis.
Manipur is a part of India and New Delhi cannot look the other way when the people of Manipur have been enduring a violent crisis for more than seven months, Captain Adsul said.
The violent conflict which erupted on May 3 has killed many people while many others are still missing.
It is clear that the Manipur violence has external hands, asserted the Shiv Sena National Secretary.
He then underscored the urgency of expediting boundary fencing along India(Manipur)-Myanmar border.
Apart from facilitating influx of a large number of illegal immigrants, some elements have been taking advantage of the long porous and unfenced border to smuggle sophisticated weapons from across the border, Captain Abhijit Adsul said.
These are some major factors for the unrest in Manipur, he added.
Shiv Sena State unit president M Tombi said that the party earlier submitted a memorandum to the Union Home Minister to bring an end to the violent conflict and restore peace in the State.
He then questioned the failure of both the Centre and the State Government to take up any concrete action towards resolving the crisis.
Kukis know very well that their aggression against the Meiteis is wrong, he said.
On the other hand, as thousands of houses have been burnt down and a large number of Meitei temples and sacred sites have been desecrated, the Meitei people, particularly youngsters have been deeply hurt and they no longer fear death, Tombi said.
It is rather unfortunate that the Central forces deployed in the State seem to be taking a particular side under such a grave situation, he added.
