Kuki leaders meet, adopt resolutions

Kuki leaders of various organizations unanimously adopted 12-point resolutions and christened it "Tuibong Resolutions" during a consultative meeting on political stands of the Kukis at Tuibong community hall, Churachandpur on August 17.Tuibong Resolutions signed by Thangkhosei Haokip, president of Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM), Khamliankhup Lianzaw, general secretary of KIM and Sominthang Doungel, secretary (political affairs) of KIM were primarily adopted in order to strengthen the Kuki political movement after analysing the various resolutions and declarations adopted by the Kuki community in the past.
The resolutions stated that the Kukis have lived autonomously under its traditional administration called 'Inpi' since time immemorial.
Independent country where the Kukis would live independently and govern themselves autonomously will be the eternal priority and goal of the Kukis while they should stand united and carry forward the independent movement of their forefathers.
It also stated that the Kukis never accepted the divide and rule policy of the Britishers which divided the Kukis in three different countries, viz, India, Burma (now Myanmar) and Bangladesh.
It also resolved to observe the Anglo-Kuki War (1917-1919) on December 19 at the State level and appealed to the State Government to declare December 19 as a State holiday.
The meeting also deliberated 'The Manipur Regulation of Non- Local People Act, 2016' and resolved to entrust Kuki Inpi, Manipur to consult experts regarding the matter.
It also resolved that every Kuki should observe Sahnit (Black Day) on September 13 till justice is delivered.
The meeting further resolved to protect and safeguard the land and resources of the Kukis, to maintain free and fair election, to strengthen Kuki Inpi (Kumpi) and to abide by the resolutions adopted.
