Imphal, July 08 2017:
Chief Minister N Biren has stated that certain 'push and pull' is necessary to bring changes and there is nothing personal about it .
"This push and pull are effected in the interest of the society and all must bear it", Biren stated while speaking at the opening function of a musical programme christened Kaongamdraba Eshei.
The two-day musical programme opened today at Maharaja Chandrakirti Auditorium is being organised by the Apunba Manipur Matam Ishei Kanglup (AMMIK) and Art and Culture Department .
Ahead of the opening function, AMMIK donated Rs one lakh to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund .
The Government is there for the welfare of people.
But the people's cooperation is a must in order to enable a Government execute policies and programmes for the welfare of people, Biren said at the gathering .
"People desire visible changes and that is what the Government has been doing during the short period of three months and the Government would continue to strive towards this end", he continued.
The coalition Government led by BJP has completed many projects left incomplete by the previous Government.
Altogether 57 different medical tests are now done free of cost, kidney dialysis is free and the disbanded public transport system has been revived.
Asking whether the previous Government did any such work, Biren claimed that all these initiatives are for the welfare of the people.
The Government would not promise anything which it cannot fulfil and it would not challenge anyone.
But it is a matter of great concern that some people have been disparaging the Government, Biren decried.
Asserting that those hypercritical people are individuals who lack self-respect, he said that people who have been ingrained with selfish political thoughts have been thrown away by people .
Just like a special scheme has been launched for journalists who have limited means of income, the Government has been considering to take up certain welfare schemes for the State's artistes, Biren stated.
The Government would like to examine thoroughly all aspects before formulating a long term policy for the welfare of the State's professional artistes .
Noting that the AMMIK's donation of Rs one lakh when the State is reeling under adverse impacts of floods is of immense value, the Chief Minister lamented that the State has experienced floods three times in three months when the Government has taken up a series of steps for the welfare of the State's poor and underprivileged sections .
Art and Culture Minister L Jayantakumar said that music can soothe one's stress and anxiety .
Even though songs of these days sound pleasing, songs of yesteryears are better qualitatively, Jayantakumar remarked .
CAF&PD Minister Karam Shyam said that music can be a source of inspiration to many .
Parliamentary Secretary (Tourism and Information Technology) Dr Sapam Ranjan was also present at the function.
