All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) has questioned the motive of the State Government behind the removal ofsenior IAS officer O Nabakishore from the post of ChiefSecretary and reposting him as the Director General of State Academy ofTraining and has threatened to take up appropriate actions if the authority concerned fails to provide satisfactory reason for the move and ifthe officer is not reinstated as the Chief Secretary at the earliest.
Speaking to media persons at AMSU office at DM College campus, its vice president Peter Laishram said that the act of removing O Nabakishore, who is one of the few from the Meitei community to become an IAS officer, from the post of Chief Secretary without providing concrete reasons and reposting him as the DG of the State Academy of Training is akin to insulting his character.
Expressing disappointment with the Cabinet's decision to remove O Nabakishore from the post, Peter Laishram said that AMSU condemns the appointment of a non local as the new Chief Secretary while the burning issue of ILP is prominent in the State.
He also threatened that AMSU would launch intense agitation if the State Government fails to reinstate O Nabakishore to his original post.
Questioning ifthe State Government is dancing to the tunes ofthe Central Government and trying to eliminate the indigenous people of the State, he further said that if the State Government does not revoke the decision at the earliest, the student's organisation along with the people ofthe State will assume that the State Government is working against the welfare ofthe indigenous people.
The students leader stated that the setting up of Anti Corruption cell to eliminate corruption from the State is a commendable step but expressed disappointment that no one picks up the phone when the Anti corruption cell number is called.
AMSU secretary general Haobijam Chalamba expressed suspicion of foul play regarding the removal of O Nabakishore from the post of Chief Secretary abruptly without proper explanation.
