CoTU to hold public consultation today

The second day of the 48-hour total shutdown called by the Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU), Sadar Hills Kangpokpi witnessed a similar situation of complete closure of shops, business establishments, educational institutions and vehicular movement along National Highway-2 in Kangpokpi.
The Kuki-Zo people across Kangpokpi district came out in the open along NH-2 demonstrating the alleged selective enforcement of law and order and demanding rationalization of implementation of law and order for both the Meiteis and the Kuki-Zo.
Groups of people blocked the highway at Kangpokpi district headquarters and Gamgiphai on the second day of the 48-hour total shutdown.
However, there was no untoward incident till the filing of this report.
The total shutdown will culminate at 6 am on November 13 .
Speaking to the media, CoTU general secretary, Lamminlun Singsit thanked all the volunteers and general public for extending support to the 48-hour total shutdown in Sadar Hills, Kangpokpi district against the detention of two Kuki-Zo individuals and the kidnapping of civilians, one of whom is still struggling for life in a remote hospital.
He said that if the Government does not pay heed to the legitimate demands of the Kuki-Zo community, the committee will consider another course of action in consultation with the public after the 48 hours total shutdown tomorrow.
He then appealed to the general public to remain alert and continue to support the fight for justice.
