Village chief's body claimed

Body of K Lhangom village chief Thangneilal Chongloi, who succumbed to bullet injuries at Raj Medicity last night, has been claimed by his family after post mortem examination was conducted at RIMS morgue today.
Thangneilal (38) along with another person, identified as Thangkhulet Chongloi (58) were critically injured after some unknown persons armed with sophisticated weapons fired around 20 rounds at them while they were talking at the former's residence at around 8.30 last night.
Although both of them were rushed to Rajmedicity, the village chief succumbed to bullet injuries in the private hospital at around 10 pm.
Both the victims are residents of K Lhangom village under Sapermeina police station in Senapati district.
Thangkhulet Chongloi is still undergoing treatment at the hospital in a critical condition.
Sapermeina police have taken up a case regarding the incident and till now no one has claimed hands in the incident.
Meanwhile Thadou bodies including Thadou Inpi, Thadou Students' Association and Thadou Youth Association today strongly condemned the killing of K Lhangnom village authority secretary and inflicting severe bullet injury to its chief by unknown miscreants last night at Sadar Hills under Sapormeina PS.
The Thadou bodies said that K Lhangnom VA Secretary, Thangneilal Chongloi and the village chief Thanglet Chongloi were brutally shot yesterday at around 9.30 pm while they were sitting together at the residence of the village chief.
The VA secretary succumbed to his injury at the spot while the village chief was rushed to a hospital at Imphal and he is still under medical observation, it added.
While strongly condemning the brutality of the assailants Thadou bodies warned not to repeat such attack on innocent civilian by any individual or groups.
It also said that Thadou bodies never accept such brutality towards innocent civilians either by armed groups or any individual which can adversely impact the Thadou community in particular and the Kukis as a whole.
Meanwhile, Thadou bodies also condolence the demise of Thangneilal Chongloi and consoled the bereaved family members while sharing their grief and pain.
