Search operation should cover hills: Meetei Leepun

While welcoming the announcement made by central and state gov-ernment authorities to launch extensive search operations to recover arms and ammunition looted/ snatched from security forces during the course of the ethnic, Meetei Leepun reminded all concerned that the arms were loot-ed not only in the valley pockets but also in Kuki dominated hill areas.
Speaking to media per-sons at Manipur Press Club, Meetei Leepun lanjang hanjaba' Shilan Heisnam urged for conduct of search operations both in hills and valley so as to avoid misgivings on the security forces.
He also contended ir-reparable damage caused to Meetei villages and de-filing of religious shrines in Kuki dominated areas including Churachandpur were intended to wipe out settlement history of the Meeteis and to grab their ancestral lands.
Shilan also urged the public not to hinder move-ment of central paramil-itary forces as such ob-struction will also create problem to state forces as and when reinforcement are needed to save lives and protection of properties.
