MIYC calls for cessation of violence

Imphal, September 23 2026: The Manipur International Youth Centre has appealed to all armed groups to immediately cease all attacks on innocent civilians, including women and children amid rising tension in the State.

All armed groups must abide by the Common Article 3 of the 4th Geneva Convention adopted on August 12, 1949 .

"Whatever political disagreement exists, there must remain a line that humanity cannot cross.

That line is the deliberate killing of civilians," said the MIYC in a statement.

All armed groups must not attack villages because of their ethnic identity, burn houses, kill women and children, abduct civilians and use them as bargaining instruments, block humanitarian lifelines or destroy public property essential to ordinary people's lives, said the MIYC .
