Imphal, September 23 2026: The Government of India has failed to protect the indigenous peoples of Manipur against Kuki insurgents' attacks, the Federation of Haomee has alleged.

Addressing a press meet held at Dewlahland today, the federation's president, Sapamcha Jadumani, said the continuous attacks on Naga villages and the killing of a 17-year-old boy named NK Wiphenbou in Tamenglong district on September 21 are an act of terrorism and highly condemnable.

The Government condemning the terror attacks instead of taking swift and concrete actions to prevent the attacks and the killing is unacceptable, he said.

Instead of condemning the attacks and the killing, the Government should take appropriate measures to prevent possible future attacks, he added.

Months after six Naga men were killed after being abducted by Kuki insurgents, the Government is yet to deliver justice.

The remains of the six men are still lying in JNIMS Mortuary awaiting justice, he said.

Had the Government taken decisive actions against the perpetrators of the heinous crime, the unrest in the State would have died down, he added.

Jadumani alleged that the "Kuki terrorists'" ambition in Kangpokpi is to drive out the Liangmai Naga population and control the district.

The Nagas in the district must anticipate further attacks and remain vigilant, he added.

Since the outbreak of the violent conflict in May 2023, Kuki insurgents have attacked villages and killed many innocent civilians including women and children, and many are still missing and believed to have been abducted and killed.

Even as the violent conflict has spread to the hills and innocent civilians have lost lives, the Government has remained mute and deaf, he said.

Instead of hearing and looking into the suffering of the people, the Government and the State leaders seem busy preparing for upcoming elections, he added.

If the Govt of India continues to fail the indigenous peoples, they may choose to create their own path and face the Kuki insurgents themselves, Jadumani said.
