Imphal, September 03 2023:
There are a number of organisations, but there is unity among them, and they are in total sync with one another, said Ph Nando Luwang, president of All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) in an apparent response to the Chief Minister's recent statement on the number of active civil society organisations amid the present conflict.
Notably, Chief Minister N Biren Singh had a few days ago stated that there were too many organisations in Manipur and both the Centre and the State Government are confused about whom to talk to.
During a special discussion on the present Manipur crisis at Lairikyengbam Awang Leikai Community Hall today, AMUCO president Ph Nando Luwang said there is unity among the organisations and all of them are in touch with each other.
The CSOs understand people's feelings and the expectation that uniting under one organisation would give strength.
All the organisations are cooperating and are united, he said.
"All organisations have been asked to unite and it is being said there is confusion about whom to talk to.
Yes, the organisations have not come under one organisation, but there is unity among the organisations on the present issue.
All the organisations are playing their parts and working together," Nando said.
He stressed that there is no difference among the organisations on the present issue.
No organisation is objecting to or hindering the functions of another organisation.
No organisation is making any statement that contradicts another's statement.
All organisations are in sync, he said.
Nando continued that the violence that has been happening since May 3 has taken the lives of many civilians while the Government of India continues to watch on as a mere spectator.
The Kuki militants' war has killed many, burnt hundreds of houses and displaced thousands of people who have been forced to stay in relief camps.
Nonetheless, the Government of India, unfortunately, is not seen taking up any concrete steps to bring a solution to the crisis, he said.
As the Government hasn't done what it should, people now have to take it upon themselves to protect Manipur.
All the people and organisations must work in close coordination.
There are no differences among organisations now, and there shouldn't be any in the future too, Nando said.
He continued that while people unite and combine force with the CSOs, efforts should be put in to avoid any misunderstanding among the people.
AMUCO is organising special discussions on the present issue in different places to avoid misunderstanding, study the situation in depth and help decide future course of actions, he said.
The special discussion, organised by Joint Action Coordination Committee Lairikyengbam Leikai, under AMUCO, was attended by representatives of different clubs and organisations.
Joint Action Coordination Committee chairman Ch Hemchand, Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur president L Memchoubi, All Manipur Women's Voluntary Organisation (AMAWOVA) president Y Kunjarani, Young Progressive Union president Sagolsem Joykumar, NIUCAMO president Ch Okendro, social activist Ashang Kasar and All Manipur Meitei Pangal Club's Organisation vice president Chesabam Lukma among others attended the discussion.
