Speaking to reporters, Manipur College Students' Union social and culture secretary L Manithoibi informed that the Union had urged authority concerned to address shortage of teachers in the college and also develop infrastructure of the college.
However, since the college principal and officials of Education Department failed to respond positively, the agitation of blocking the road was launched.
As part of the agitation, issue of forms for the new academic session has also been suspended, the secretary said and declared that the Union will continue to launch intense form of agitations till the demands are honoured.
As report of the agitation spread, the education director along with the college principal met with three representatives of the union and assured to post requisite number of teachers and initiate infrastructure development, following which the students' union decided to lift the restriction imposed on issuance of admission forms with effect from Tuesday.
