Assam Rifles conducts wreath-laying ceremony

Assam Rifles held a wreath-laying ceremony at Chassad, Kamjong district in honour of Nb Sub Chandra Bahadur Limbu, who died fighting insurgents at Road Track Junction near Khyakjong village on April 27, 1961, in Hapu, Tuensang district, Nagaland.
In a release, PRO IGAR (S) conveyed that on April 26, 1961, Nb Sub Chandra Bahadur Limbu led a team tasked with destroying a temporary camp established by hardcore underground groups in Hapu village, Tuensang district.
Recognising the urgency of the situation, he fearlessly attacked the camp along with his team, neutralising five highly trained insurgents and successfully destroying the camp.
Chandra Bahadur sustained bullet injuries during the intense fire fight and got martyred on April 27, 1961, bravely sacrificing his life for the nation.
The commandant of the unit laid a wreath, followed by a motivational speech addressing all ranks and narrating the inspiring story of the brave heart.
Four officers, 13 junior commissioned officers and 131 other ranks of the battalion paid tribute by laying wreaths and giving a guard of honour, the release added.
