Awareness / interaction programme held

Imphal, February 23 2024:
Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MSLSA), under the aegis of National Legal Services Authority, organised a one-day awareness cum interaction programme on Juvenile Justice Act, 2015 under the theme 'Restoring the Youth: Pan-India campaign for identifying juveniles in prisons and rendering legal assistance, 2024' at Manipur Central Jail, Sajiwa, on Friday.
District and Sessions Judge, Thoubal Binny Ngangom, civil judge senior division, Imphal East Dr Laishram Reena, CJM Imphal West Bineshwori Maibam, CJM Ukhrul Moirangthem Heeralata, CJM Bishnupur Yengkhom Sarda, deputy member secretary Rajshri Yambem and OSD Khangembam Rojita attended the programme.
Around 620 people including jail inmates, panel lawyers of Jail Legal Aid Clinic, official and staff of the jail participated in the programme.
According to a statement of MSLSA, the programme aimed at providing assistance to juvenile in prisons and transferring them to child care institutes.
Civil judge senior division, Imphal East, Dr Laishram Reena spoke on "Juvenile Justice Act, 2015, and the aims and objective of Pan-India campaign" as resource person.
Artistes of Nokphade Cultural Foundation also presented a skit on legal topics such as rights of prisoners on the occasion.
