DC orders closure of de-addiction centre

Kakching deputy commissioner (DC) Rohit Anand has ordered closure of all unregistered de-addiction centres operating in Kakching district with immediate effect.
In an order issued on May 21, Rohit Anand informed that the directive has been issued as per the declaration of Social Welfare Department on November 23, 2023 that all private de-addiction centres, registered under para 5.1 of Guidelines for setting up of Treatment and Rehabilitation of Users for Social Transformation (TRUST), shall halt functioning after three months from issuance of the aforesaid notice.
Further, in case of client/patient undergoing treatment in the unregistered de-addiction centres, then the said centres shall immediately inform the family members of the patients to get them transferred to other registered centres located in Kakching district such as Healing Point, Machin Manao Hills, Kakching (IRCA); Phidam, Machin Manao Hills, Kakching (IRCA); and Better Living, Rehabilitation Centre for Substance Abuse Behavioural Addiction, Sora, Ching Wangma Kakching (private de-addic-tion centre).
Only the three centres are registered/au-thorised centres in Kakching district, it informed.
