Wildfire fighting kits distributed in Thoubal

Thoubal, March 19 2024:
Thoubal Forest Division DFO E Jeeceelee has called upon the people to extend cooperation to steps taken up by the Forest Department to prevent outbreak of forest fires with onset of the dry and windy season.
Speaking during distribution of Fire Fighting Basic Tools to the Joint Forest Management Committees (JFMC) under Thoubal Forest Division on Tuesday in a programme organised under Forest Fire Prevention and Management Scheme, 2023-2024 by Thoubal Forest Division at its office complex, DFO Jeeceelee elaborated that the fire fighting tools along with incentives were being distributed with the aim of aiding the JFMC in preventing wildfires in areas under the jurisdictions of the Division in Thoubal and Kakching districts which are mostly reserved and protected forests.
The DFO also appealed to the denizens not to smoke in the forest area and refrain from burning any material near fire-prone hill and forest areas.
As a part of the event, fire-fighting kits including five sprayers, 10 racks, 25 gum-boots, 15 headlamps, 15 beaters and 10 knives, were handed over to volunteers of Uyal JFMC, Wangoo Laipham JFMC, Sajik Lairembi JFMC, Waikhong Laimanai JFMC and Thongam Mondum JFMC.
The event was also attended by RFO Thoubal Dinesh Salam and Kakching L Dinesh; and RO Headquarter Deepa Ningthoujam as well as staff of DFO Thoubal, Thoubal Range and Kakching Range.
