Sanajaoba calls for shielding shrines

As observed every year, Cheng Hongba ritual performed on the full moon day of Manipuri lunar month 'Kalen' was held on Thursday by praying to Ibudhou Nongsaba and Ibud-hou Pakhangba for prosperity of the land.
Rajya Sabha MP Maharaj Sanajaoba Leisemba showered rice and prayed to Ibudhou Nongsaba and Ibudhou Pakhangba at Uttra Shanglen.
Speaking in this regard, MP Sanajaoba stressed the need to preserve, protect and develop religious places and shrines of the indigenous people.
He further informed that Cheng Hongba' ritual is being performed since time immemorial.
Stating that desecration of religious places of indigenous people cannot be taken lightly, he suggested that the government should take appropriate actions against the culprits.
Meanwhile, leaders of Sana Konung led by Angom Ningthou performed Cheng Hongba' ritual at the shrine of Ibudhou Nongshaba located at Mantak Kom under Kakching district.
