MNYO decries desecration of church

The Manipur Naga Youth Organisation (MNYO) denounced the recent desecration of Govajang Church by armed village volunteers' .
Calling it sacrilege and profanity, the MNYO expressed deep distress at the violation, which offends the Christian community.
In a statement, the organisation highlighted the unfortunate incident captured in a viral video, showing valley volunteers mocking the sacred space with the Bible.
They emphasised that such actions undermine the region's tradition of coexistence and pose a threat to social harmony.
MNYO asserted that the wanton destruction of religious institutions cannot be justified and called for restraint from all parties involved.
Urging swift investigation by authorities and accountability for those responsible, the organisation emphasised the need for concrete measures to prevent further religious intolerance and violence.
The MNYO reiterated its commitment to promoting understanding, respect, and unity among Manipur's diverse communities, emphasising that peace is crucial for a prosperous society.
"We call upon all parties involved in the conflict to exercise restraint and engage in peaceful dialogue for a resolution that respects the rights and dignity of every coinmunity," the statement added.
