Music project for school students lauched

Imphal, June 25 2017: Chief Minister N.Biren Singh today launched the project, 'Support of Musical Instruments and Teaching of Music to School Children', which is a part of State Government' s 100-days programme, at the auditorium of Manipur State Film Development Society (MSFDS), Palace Compound, Imphal today .

The function also marked the inauguration of a 25-day music workshop which was organised to support school children by way of imparting knowledge of music to school children and make them aware about the role and importance of music in life through this project funded by North Eastern Council (NEC).

Noted artistes Nameirakpam Tiken, Leimapokpam Tiken, Guru Reuben Mashangva, Huidrom Dhana, Haobijam Senyai, L Budhi, Bachaspatimayum Rajeshwor , Deepen Kamei, Dankhojam Lumkin, RK Surjit and Laishram Prithviraj will be the resource persons of the workshop.

Speaking at the occasion as the chief guest, Shri N.Biren observed that every profession must be given equal respect as every society comprises of people of different professions.

The Chief Minister stated that people of other States and countries acclaim Manipur 's glorious civilization after witnessing its rich cultural heritage.

Reiterating State Government' s firm commitment of fulfilling people' s wishes, the Chief Minister said that Manipur belongs to every community of the State.

Art and Culture Minister L.Jayantakumar and Education Minister Shri Th.Radheshyam graced the occasion as president and guest of honour respectively .

Among others CAF & PD Minister Shri Karam Shyam, MAHUD Minister Shri Th Shyamkumar and Commissioner (Art and Culture) M.Lakshmikumar also attended the function, organised by Department of Art and Culture, Government of Manipur .

The dignitaries feted the resource persons and also distributed musical instruments to 15 schools of 16 different districts at the function.
