Political parties target new Bill by Aug 25

A meeting of all political parties was held today at the Chief Minister's Secretariat and the meeting deliberated at length on the ongoing mass movement for enforcement of ILPS or similar mechanism in Manipur.
Meanwhile it is reported that a Cabinet meeting has been convened at 10 am of August 19 to discuss about holding a special Assembly session in order to pass a fresh Bill similar to ILPS.
The meeting discussed about incorporating as much points as possible from the five points insisted by JCILPS in the Bill and pass the same Bill by August 25 .
It discussed about passing the Bill as soon as possible so that all the educational institutions which remain shut can be re-opened at the earliest, informed a source.
The meeting unanimously resolved that any agreement or accord signed between NSCN-IM and Government of India must not affect the territorial integrity and the interests of the State of Mani-pur at any cost.
The meeting presided by Chief Minister O Ibobi also adopted two other resolutions regarding the peace accord.
Representatives of different political parties present at the meeting decided to urge the State Government to pass a resolution on recently signed framework agreement between Government of India and NSCN-IM in the ensuing Manipur Legislative Assembly session to protect the territorial integrity of Manipur and its interest in letter and spirit.
It was also decided to send an all political party delegation led by the Chief Minister to meet the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister and appraise the implications and present scenario with respect to the recently signed framework agreement between NSCN-IM and Government of India.
