Jiribam, August 17 2015:
Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) Jiribam Branch has announced for a 24-hour total bandh along Imphal-Jiribam road (NH-37) beginning midnight of August 18, Tuesday.
The JCILPS Jiribam Branch in a statement on Monday condemned the killing of Sapam Robinhood and violence meted out to many people including young students by police during ILPS movement.
The statement informed that cops are using rubber bullets, tear gas canisters and mock bombs against people who are demanding the Government to protect the indigenous people by implementing Inner Line Permit System.
The total bandh along the highway is in protest against the police brutality, it said.
However, medical and religious activities, electricity, media and water supply will be kept out of the purview of the strike, it said.
