Imphal, August 17 2015:
Information Centre for Hill Areas Manipur (ICHAM) has expressed concern over showing lackadaisical attitude towards people's popular demand for implementation of ILPS in the State by the Government.
Speaking at a press conference, ICHAM general secretary Ngachonmi Ramshang said that although people have been staging different forms of intense agitations since the past two months, it seems that the Government does not take the people's voice seriously.
He said that the present Government is unable to act understanding the sentiment of the people as they are incompetent.
Saying that the fast unto death agitation being staged by some people including students is a democratic form of stir, Ngachonmi questioned why the Government is maintaining silence on the issue.
He said that many students of Imphal East and Imphal West have started shifting to the colleges and schools of hill districts as educational institutes in these two districts are closed since past two months.
ICHAM president N Rajendro said that people do not believe the Government as the Government never considers any demand seriously without loss of precious lives.
The present Government never acted on time regarding the demand of ILPS implementation, he alleged.
Observing that there is no need for a Government which does not understand the sentiment of its people, Rajendro said that this point must be understood by themselves.
He said that Chief Minister O Ibobi can fulfil the demand of the people if he has a strong political will.
