Meet seeks solution; speaker, minister petitioned

A protest meet organised by womenfolk from various parts of the state and displaced women in relief camps was held at Pishum Hao Ground on Sunday.
The gathering, aimed at addressing the ongoing crisis in the state, adopted several resolutions and submitted the same in the form of memorandum to Manipur Legislative Assembly speaker Th Satyabrata and MAHUD minister Y Khemchand at their respective residences.
The event, conducted under the banner "The Voice of Kanglei Mothers," saw participation from displaced women from Moreh, Churachandpur, and other violence affected areas.
The womenfolk, currently residing in relief camps, united with local women to express their concerns and demands.
During the meet, several resolutions were adopted.
The women called for a whitepaper on the current conflict in Manipur for presentation in the ongoing Parliament session, emphasising that the document should offer a comprehensive solution to the crisis.
They also expressed distrust in the Central security forces and urged that arms should not be confiscated from village volunteers until Kuki militants are controlled and their armed attacks effectively halted.
The protestors also demanded cessation of search operations in valley areas targeting village volunteers while insisting that village volunteers should continue their voluntary services until the crisis is resolved and opposed any policies targeting them.
Additionally, they called on the state government to clearly communicate to the Centre that there should be no separate administration or similar legislations as demanded by the Kuki community.
After adopting these resolutions, the women protestors marched to the residence of MA-HUD minister Y Khemchand at Singjamei Yumnam Leikai, chanting slogans to protect the identity and territorial integrity of Manipur and opposing security crackdowns on village volunteers.
Though police stopped the protestors near Yumnam Leikai Lairembi 15 representatives were allowed hand over the memorandum to the minister s wife as the minister was out of station.
The protestors then proceeded to the residence of speaker and Yaiskul MLA Th Satyabrata at Singjamei Bheigyabati Leikai to hand over memorandum to which the local MLA assured them of his cooperation and support.
In an interaction with the media, Imagee Meira convenor Th Sujata, recounted that the mothers had held a joint meeting on June 17 at Singjamei Chingamathak community hall and organised protest rally on June 23 from Regional College ground, Lilong Chajing to Manipur University gate followed by submission of memorandum to the Governor and the Chief Minister demanding solution to the crisis.
Sunday's meeting was convened to discuss the prevailing situation and adopt firm resolutions of the mothers, Sujata said, adding that decision was made to submit the memorandum containing the resolutions to the remaining 50 MLAs and warned of intensified protests if proactive steps are not taken to resolve the crisis.
