Transfer of school headmaster protested

Reacting against the transfer of its headmaster; students, teachers, guardians and School Management Development Committee (SMDC) of Kiyamgei High Madrassa organised a protest demonstration at the school campus on Tuesday.
They also threatened to lock down the school if the transfer order is not revoked by Wednesday.
Addressing media persons, SMDC executive member Md Ramijuddin said that Kiyamgei High Madrassa, Imphal East, which was on the verge of extinction was revived soon after the appointment of Wahajuddin Khan (Arts Graduate Teacher) as headmaster of the school in 2021.Earlier, the school had only 5/6 students.
However, Wahajuddin went to every house in the area and mobilised as much students as he could to get enrolled in the school.
Now, because of his efforts, the school has 150 students.
Not only this, he even paid the salary of a teacher and a peon and tried his level best to develop the school, he said.
However, directorate of education (S) issued an order on April 19 to effect transfer of Wahajuddin Khan from the school which is very unfortunate, he said, adding that the order is an attempt to abolish the school.
As such, the transfer order should be revoked by May 3 failing which different forms of intense agitation will be launched, he cautioned.
A guardian, who also took part in the press conference, stated that earlier, the school had very few students who had no desire to learn.
How ever, after his(Wahajuddin) arrival in the school, the scenario completely changed and the students have now understood the importance of learning.
The protestors also used placards inscribed with slogans that read "Revoke transfer order of Wahajuddin Khan" and "Allow us to learn" and also shouted slogans.
