MLA urges public not to dig up roads

Informing that renovation work of the Mutum Phibou to Yumnam Huidrom Road was stalled after commencement over certain issues, Wangoi MLA Kh Loken has appealed to the people of his constituency not to dig up the road but to wait as steps are being taken up to sort out the issues.
Clarifying on the matter, the MLA said that after the 2022 state assembly election, the road project commenced through RIDE As the WBM stage was completed, a work order issued prior to 2022 in the name of one Sanayaima for the road stretch from Mutum Phibou to Kontha Thana under DRDA funding cropped.
Consequently, the matter is being investigated by the estimate committee of the state assembly.
In the meantime, some individuals tried to withdraw fund for the project.
Due to these issues, he has been unable to complete the road project, even by utilising the local area development fund, the MLA elaborated.
While acknowledging that the locals dug up the road out of discontentment, he informed that IVRs in the constituencies are being widened up to 16 feet under his initiative in-spite of objections raised from certain quarters.
He, thus, urged all concerned to cooperate and not to dig up roads in future.
The MLA also spoke on issues concerning PDS rice due to hurdles created by some individuals: Out of the six agents, three are not agreeing to the proposal of sharing the allocation to non-beneficiaries, who are facing hardships.
They even refused to discuss the matter, he said and added that he is taking up measures to ensure distribution of rice to all the people of his constituency.
