COCOMI, others extend aid to flood victims

Several voluntary organisations are continuing to extend support to flood-affected residents across the state even as Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) activated emergency helpline numbers and relief item collection centres at different locations to assist those in need.
In a statement, COCOMI announced the expansion of its relief efforts with the launch of additional emergency helpline centres following the opening of its Flood Relief & Emergency Helpline Centre at Lamlong Keithel on Monday.
New helpline centres have been set up at Kongba Keithel, Konung Mamang and Khwairamband Ima Keithel to assist those affected by the ongoing floods.

COCOMI volunteers are actively engaged in providing aid and support to the flood-hit population.
Individuals who are unable to access the helpline centres in person are advised to contact the emergency numbers 9863738741, 9366813406, and 9612318445 for assistance.
The statement further informed that COCOMI convenor Khuraijam Athouba led an inspection visit to assess the condition of flood-affected residents in Kongba.
Efforts are underway to ensure the availability of daily essentials for those impacted by the disaster.
As part of the relief operations, a total of 18 elderly residents from the Citizen Old Age Home were evacuated and relocated to the Kongba Relief Helpline Centre.
Plans are afoot to temporarily accommodate them at the Khuman Lampak Youth Hostel.
The statement also mentioned that another team from COCOMI visited the relief camp at Haotal in Pangei to assess the situation and extend support.
The committee ensured that all relief materials received at the Flood Relief Helpline Centres were properly distributed to the flood-affected people.

COCOMI further appealed to the public to contact the organisation for any essential daily requirements at relief camps, assuring continued support and coordination in the ongoing relief efforts.
Meanwhile, members of All Kyamgei Nupi Chaokhat Thourang Lup and Peace and Integrity Committee, Kyamgei (PICK) provided potable water to flood victims taking shelter at the Bashikhong Panthoibi Flood Relief Camp, as well as at other relief camps set up by the Bashikhong Kongba Irong Development Committee.
Similarly, under the aegis of All Manipur Meitei Pangal Clubs' Organisation (AMMPACO), several organisations including Jamlat Ulama Bishnupur, Anjuman Islah E-Muashara Kwakta, All Kwakta Youth Voluntary Organisation (AKYVO) and Kwakta Municipal Council (KMC) have distributed relief materials to flood-affected residents at Kairang Khomidok, Khabeisoi, Lairikyengbam Leikai, Sangakpham and Keirao, the release added.
