College teachers draw Govt attention to their grievances

Even after the implementation of 6th Pay Commission in the State, teachers working in various Government Colleges in Manipur have not yet been entitled to the UGC Pay Scale and other admissible allowances, L Randhoni, President of Federation of Government College Teachers Association, Manipur, has disclosed.
Talking to media persons in this regard at Manipur Pres Club here today, Randhoni pointed out that 6th Pay Commission was implemented in Manipur very late in 2009-10 after all the States of India have already enjoyed it.
The Government college teachers in Manipur started enjoying the pay scale of 6th Pay Commission only in 2012 .
Randhoni further pointed out that even though college teachers are provided salaries under the 6th Pay Commission, yet they are deprived of the various other benefits entitled under the under the 6th Pay Commission.
The Special Compensative Allowance and the Travelling Allowance for 32 months have not been cleared till date apart from other admissible arrears.
Out of the total 1240 posts created by the State Government, there are 957 regular teachers in Government Colleges, and many of them are going to retire from service without getting the UGC pay scale, Randhoni said, while drawing the attention of the State Government, specially the Education Minister, to look into the matter.
