Private varsity signs pact for job-oriented course

Khongnangthaba University celebrated the third foundation day at its Khurai Konsam Leikai Paonam Leirak campus in Imphal East district on Friday.
Apart from faculty members eulogising on the achievements of the varsity and guests advocating relentless pursuit to attain objective of the university, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was also signed between the university and Barefooter School, Pune with the objective of offering short-term job-oriented courses and start up training, enhancing employability and entrepreneurial skills of the youth in Manipur.
Presided over by University dean and AYUSH director Dr A Guneshwor Sharma, the celebration was attended by vice chancellor of the university Prof N Joykumar as chief guest while St Mary College of Pharmacy, Secunderabad prof Gurusamy Mariappan, Regional Institute of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology, Tripura professor Nilimanka Das, scientist (Agriculture) and corporate advisor Dr Arin-dam Chaudhuri, Pestorys LLP founder and Barefooters School mentor Avinash Salunke were the guests of honour.
Speaking at the event, Prof N Joykumar Singh confided that the university will strive to interlink traditional healing practices and modern practices using new technology, while informing that in its three years of existence, the university has incorporated several academic programmes, giving higher.
education to the students.
The students would be motivated with the addition of several academic programmes as and when construction of its branch campuses at Moreh and Jiribam is completed, he continued.
Dr Atom Sunil Singh reflected on the past history of Khongnangthaba University and highlighted the university's establishment as the first private university under the Manipur Private University Act of 2021 arid Recognised under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act of 1956.The university is empowered to confer degrees under Section 22 of the UGC Act of 1956, he added.
Envisioning the future, Dr Sunil announced the university's application for recognition as an examination body under the Indian Nursing Council (INC) and the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) .
