Imphal, May 20 2024:
Kangleipak Calendar Board celebrated its 16th foundation day at Manipur Press Club, here, with JNIMS director L Deben as chief guest.
The function was also attended by Board president Acharya Abhijit Sairom as president and JNIMS medical superintendent Kh Lokeshwar Singh as special guest while board advisor Akham Langol and vice president Dr Moiranghem Surjit were present as guests of honour.
In his address, Dr L Deben said that imaginative work is not commensurate with the time and so any work should be done with thorough understanding nowadays.
He also declared before the gathering that he will be a member of Kangleipak Calendar Board arid work for the board to last long in the service of people.
Abhijit Sairom told the gathering that Manipur calendars in the past were prepared based on the time of rising Sun in West Bengal.
However, there is huge difference between the time of Sunrise in West Bengal and Manipur consequently leading to multiple contradictions.
However, Kangleipak Calendar Board has managed to resolve these contradictions as calendars in the state are now prepared based on rise of Sun with longitude and latitude from Kangla, he said, adding that the board has been publishing calendar without any contradiction till date.
He also appealed to people to use calendar having board affiliation number only and those selling calendar to hawk calendar prepared by the board only.
