Imphal, December 16 2023:
Prominent economist professor N Mohendro has advised teachers to prepare students to equip them for meeting the evolving needs of the society while keeping in view of the unique situation of the state as well as demands of the future.
As the chief guest during a felicitation function of Paree Imom Sindam Shang, Langjing organised to honour students, who secured high marks in HSLCE 2023, at the school on Saturday, professor Mohendro emphasised on the need for holding discussion sessions for students, teachers and governing body separately to bring out the best solution.
In this era of Education-plus, incorporating values of teaching, inspiration, motivation and empowering is imperative.
However, it would not be an easy task to achieve the objective unless contemporary teachers think ahead and prepare students for meeting the needs of the evolving society, particularly the needs of the state in the 22nd century.
This type of education system has already been implemented in European countries, he said.
In today's world, just conventional teaching-learning process is not enough.
The type of education that prioritises on clearing examination is obsolete.
Special focus should be paid on the quality of inspiration and motivation teachers have on the students.
Every educational institution should function with a clear vision that will meet the requirement of the future, he said, while urging teachers to become role model for their students.
Chairman cum administrator of the school governing body S Merajao presided over the function while Council of Higher Education joint secretary Oinam Bhubaneswor, ZEO Zone 1 DI of school Dr Elina Soibamcha and SAI NERC Imphal sports science former head Dr K Konsana attended as guests of honour.
Students who cleared the HSLCE 2023 in first division, scored letter marks and subject toppers (school), were encouraged by presenting citations and cash rewards.
Rani Memorial Award, sponsored by professor N Mohendro in the name of his late mother, was presented to Naorem Rajiv, the school topper.
