Senapati DC calls for preserving composite culture

Friends Across Borders (FAB), MANEDA organised day-long sports meet at Sanyi Dahrii Memorial Sports Complex, Khabung Karong on Saturday with Senapati DC Mamoni Doley as the chief guest.
Addressing the gathering, Mamoni Doley stated that the concept of the sports event was very beautiful, very innovative and interesting at the same time.
With participation of youth from 16 different villages belonging to different tribes, the concept was stated to "Inclusiveness and gender equity".
The DC then stressed on the need to respect each other and to preserve the composite culture.
Winning is not all in sports where every player yearns to win.
Principle of fair play should be followed, she said adding winning is easy to celebrate but failure teaches a lot.
The DC urged all to come out of failure and strive to win in the next is stated to be important.
Later, the DC declared the sports meet opened.
In his welcome note, T Peter Rangnamei, Director, MANEDA lauded the district DC for her good gesture by receiving all who visit her office.
The sports meet was stated to cover 16 different villages under Senapati and Kangpokpi districts.
Meveine Kazia, Coordinator, FAB in her keynote stated that the sports consist of youth from 16 different villages to celebrate the friendship among the youth.
The sport was also stated to strengthening social cohesions for individual, children and youth.
The day's event was not just about sports or play but, it's about celebrating friendships, rebuilding, relearning the relationship with one another as well to promote inclusiveness and gender equity.
While aiming to promote gender equality, sports has proven to be an effective medium for bringing together the young people from different groups.
The sports was stated to organised with an objective to promote "Inclusiveness and Gender Equity" where the teams played a mixed gender and mixed ethnic which is formed at community level.
Hope Home children presented the welcome song, followed by dance by M Ningthoupham youth and cultural dance from Taphou Namthan youth.
Different games including football, volleyball, tug of war, relay race and exhibition match of Ultimate Frisbee were conducted during the meet.
