Governor exhorts stakeholders to aid end crisis

While observing that it would be difficult for the peopled Manipur to return to their normal lives until the animosity between the two communities of the state is resolved, Governor Anusuiya Uikey has called upon all stakeholders to cooperate to each other in resolving the crisis.
She further said that the leaders are well aware of the suffering of the people and expressed firm belief that the central government would soon take action.
The Governor made the appeal while speaking at the closing ceremony of the 15-day Summer Children Theatre Workshop, 2024 held at Manipur Trade and Expo Centre Relief Camp, Lamboi Khognangkhong on Sunday.
The workshop was organised by National School of Drama (NSD), New Delhi and NSD (TIE Wing), Tripura, in collaboration with Khenjonglang and Department of Social Welfare, Manipur, especially for children in relief camps of the Expo Centre and Temporary Shelter Home, Sajiwa Jail Complex in Imphal East.
During the ceremony, the Governor interacted with 129 displaced children along with their guardians and distributed certificates for their participation in dancing and painting events during the workshop.
In her speech, Governor Anusuiya noted that every section of society has been affected by the situation in the state.
Most importantly, the women and children have been affected and there is the need to support them with utmost care.
She continued that the children's state of mind, whether it is about their families or future, has to be relaxed and therefore, such theatre workshop would help in this direction.
Appreciating the role of Khenjonglang, the she stated that such initiatives will help remove stress from the young minds and to foster a good mental back-up to the children.
She then asked the theatre group to continue their efforts and assured to extend allpossible assistance from the Raj Bhavan.
"As children are the future pillars of the nation, facilities like good education, good healthcare etc., has to be delivered to the children.
All displaced children need to have mental peace and be physically fit.
Additionally, all children are talented and they should be guided and nurtured in their best area of interests," added the Governor.
Expressing serious concern over the situation in the state, Anusuiya, as a guardian of the state, conveyed that steps to resolve the crisis have been taken up through regular consultations with central leaders.
Hopefully, some tangible result will be seen in the near future, she expressed, adding that the state government is also making efforts including plans to set up a housing society for displaced persons among other initiatives.
She then appealed to all stakeholders to cooperate with the steps taken up to resolve the crisis and to restore peace and tranquillity in the best interest of the people of Manipur.
Presiding over the function, Manipur University of Culture vice chancellor Professor P Gunindro stressed the importance of development of children's mental health along with expressing that all should learn to handle the vicissitudes of life with a positive mind-set.
Khenjonglang director Dr Thaninleima, officers of Social Welfare Department and IDPs attended the closing ceremony.
Later, certificates of participation were distributed to the children who attended the summer camp.
