Multiple shortages put DM University on death bed

While welcoming the statement of chief minister N Biren for establishing a law university in the state, Manipur International Youth Centre, Nupi Union for Peace and Integrity and Women's United Development Organisation Manipur have stated that DM University which was set up with high hopes in 2018 is on death bed as the university has been swarmed with inconveniences.
In a joint release, Nupi Union for Peace and Integrity and Women's United Development Organisation Manipur observed that the university is spineless and is there only for its namesake and will hinder the careers of students if the university is overlooked.
Since the establishment of DM University, teachers from the five constituent colleges namely DMC Science, DMC Arts, DMC Commerce, LMS Law College and GP Women's College in addition to the teachers utilised from other colleges are taking undergraduate, post-graduate and even pre-Phd classes causing tremendous stress to the teachers and also in availing quality education to the students.
A regular vice chancellor along with an ex-officio registrar and an ex-officio finance officer is managing the university and the controller of examinations and deputy controller of examinations are all in charge.
The VC is the only regular employee, the release contended, while pointing out that there arise frequent protests by students under the university as most of the employees are engaged staff.
The lack of manpower failed to conduct and declare examination timely, it added.
Recalling that the interview was conducted for recruiting 88 professors and 169 non-teaching staffers including the registrar in June 2022, the release stated that the result of the recruitment is still not declared.
Pointing out that the constituent colleges are also filled with inadequacies including lack of teachers, proper classrooms, labs and updated libraries, it said that most of the students of the university who secured JRD and passed NET do Phd in other universities like MU.
Drawing the attention of the Governor who is also the Chancellor and other authorities concerned to look into the matter and save the university, the joint release appealed to the Manipur High Court and Manipur State Human Rights Commission to consider if a suo - moto case could be taken up regarding the matter.
