GC Suresh first from state to undertake HDM course

Group Captain Wangkhem Suresh has been nominated for participation in the prestigious Higher Defence Management (HDM) course at the College of Defence Management in Secunderabad, Telangana, which is a significant achievement as he is the first Manipuri Air Force officer to undertake the course.
According to Sainik School Imphal Alumni Association (SSIAA), Group Captain Suresh Singh, an alumnus of the School, is the son of (late) W Borobi and Memton Devi of Kakwa Lamdaibung, Imphal East, He is the younger brother of Colonel Wangkhem Somorjit Singh, also an alumnus of the same school.
Group Captain Suresh was part of the 20th Batch of Sainik School Imphal, Netaji House.
During his school years, he served as both school vice-captain and captain, earning numerous accolades.
Notably skilled in drill and bring, he participated in the Republic Day Camp in New Delhi in 1997, as the first senior division cadet from his school and was also the only cadet selected from the NER Contingent for the youth exchange programme to Canada during the Republic Day Camp.
Known for his sportsmanship, academic excellence, and disciplined demeanour, Group Captain Suresh Singh left a lasting impression on his alma mater, continued the SSIAA, adding that he joined the National Defence Academy (NDA) in the 102 course, Char lie Squadron, and graduated with the Most Promising Horse Rider Trophy.
Commissioned into the Flying (Navigation) Branch of the Indian Air Force, he received the Best in Air Works Trophy.
With a distinguished career spanning over 20 years, Group Captain Suresh Singh has flown in diverse terrains and operated from various airfields across India and abroad.
He specialised in valley flying in the Northern Himalayas and Arunachal hills using tactical transport aircraft.
His extensive training includes almost all professional courses offered by the Air Force.
He has served as an instructor at training establishments and as a supervisor at flying squadrons.
Additionally, he successfully commanded an operational combat unit in the South Western sector of the country.
The SSIAA commended Group Captain Suresh Singh for his remarkable achievements and dedication and expressed their best wishes for his success in the Higher Defence Management Course, along with encouraging him to continue raising the flag of Sainik School Imphal high, bringing pride to his native state of Manipur, and serving the nation with utmost dedication.
