Education (S) director L Nandakumar has said that government schools in the state are witnessing significant improvement in the last few years.
He was speaking at the graduation ceremony of a 10-day Teachers' Induction Training organised by Star Education in association with the Education (S) department at Kamakhya Pemton College, Hiyangthang on Friday.
Attending the event as chief guest, Nandakumar observed how real time assessment of sectors related with education is still an impossible task in today's technologically advanced world.

The Star Education Programme is a project of Samagra Shiksha Manipur and is funded by the Ministry of Education for adoption in government schools, he said.
He informed the gathering that government schools are providing free education to students up to class 8 under Right to Education.
In addition to this, the School Fagathansi Mission has been successful in improving government schools to a great extent.
Pass percentage of government schools in HSLCE and HSE is increasing gradually, and last year's HSE toppers in Arts and Commerce streams were students of government schools, he said.
The director also stressed the importance of regular refresher courses for teachers.
The department is reviewing the outcome of the Star Education Programme, which is a globally recognised education programme.
Adopting the system will help in bringing world class education in the state and the government will take further decision on continuing the programme after assessing the outcomes, he added.
Kamakhya Pemton College principal Dr Wahengbam Ni-mai also attended the event.
The training was participated by 540 teachers from 154 government schools.
