37th Raising Day of MPA celebrated

The Koireng-led armed United National Liberation Front (UNLF) reportedly celebrated the 37th Raising Day of its armed wing Manipur People's Army (MPA) on Friday at the outfit's units both inside and outside Manipur.
According to a UNLF-Koireng statement, the main highlights of the celebration at all the venues were observance of two minutes' silence in memory of those who got martyred during the course of the revolutionary movement, paying of floral tributes to the martyred revolutionaries and reading out the message delivered to the people by Military Affairs Committee of Central Committee (MAC) on the occasion.
The main celebration at central headquarters (CHQ) was attended by MAC chairman cum UNLF chairman NC Koireng as president while MAC member Col K Puyaning and MPA vice chief of army staff Lt Col L Khongnangthaba were present as presidium members.
The celebration was also attended by Central Committee members M Iboyaima, Y Abo O Chingkheinganbi, Ksh Yoiheiba, M Munan and directors of different departments, party cadres and fighters.
The celebration at GHQ was attended by MPA chief of army staff Col M Chaoba as president, who unfurled the outfit's flag in the presence of cadres and fighters while the celebration at Tactical Headquarters-1 had GSO-2 Lt Col N Inaoba as president and Central Committee members TD Khuman Chiru, and M Sakhen among others.
The celebration at Tactical Headquarters-2 was held with GSO-2 Lt Col Th Wakheiba as president, the UNLF-Koireng statement issued by its publicity secretary M Sak-hen said.
According to the statement, the celebration of 37th Raising Day of MPA outside Manipur was attended by general secretary (external affairs) N Lancha as president while the celebration inside Manipur was presided over by Col I Tomba.
It also said that celebration at Laksa was attended by Lt Col W Chumthang as president while the celebration at Sindam was attended by Lt Col M Mannaba as president.
The statement also informed that the MPA Raising Day celebrations in districts of valley area of Manipur were attended by operation commanders as functional presidents while training officers were functional presidents of the commemorative event at training centres.
Fighters of proscribed organisations like KCP, KYKL, PREPAK, PREPAK (Pro) and RPF, who remain committed to the cause of restoration of sovereign status of Manipur, also took part in the MPA Raising Day celebration, it added.
