CM urged to look into Waqf Board mess

Stating that lakhs of rupees were collected by Waqf Board, Manipur aS fee for application form for recruitment in different posts whereas notification for the same was annulled, Islamic Development Council Manipur has urged chief minister N Biren, who is also in charge of the minority department, to look into the matter.
In a release, Council president Abdul Hafeez Nadvi recalled that Waqf Board issued notification for recruitment of 645 teachers (Arabic/Hindi/Urdu/Science/Social Science) and other posts with advertisement of the same published in local dailies on January 3 and 4.Numerous Meetei Pangals took the application form costing Rs 500 each and submitted them.
However, Minority Affairs secretary, Government of Manipur cancelled the recruitment notification on January 6 thereby leaving over 7,000 applicants in desperation as fees collected have not been refunded.
Abdul enquired who will take responsibility for collecting application form from applicants by the board without the approval of the government.
There is also no information about taking actions against the board chairman and officers concerned, he lamented and suggested that the chief minister, who is in-charge of the minority department, take actions against those involved at the earliest and return the form money to the applicants.
