Imphal, September 08 2014:
After the Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) failed to appear for formal talks with the State Government on September 4, a second invitation has been extended by the Government, to which the committee has agreed to attend.
The meeting will be held tomorrow at around 2 pm in the conference hall of the Chief Minister's office.
It may be recalled here that the JCILPS had skipped the earlier meeting scheduled for September 4 at the Chief Minister's secretariat hall protesting the non-release of its committee executive member, advocate N Arjun from jail.
Taking into consideration the committee's protest for not appearing at the meeting, the Government had released N.Arjun without any condition on September 6 and invited the committee for the second time.
A reception programme for advocate Arjun was also organized at the committee's office located at Nongmeibung, Imphal the same day.
Accordingly, with the unconditional release of N.Arjun, the committee had decided to accept the Government's proposal for a formal talk.
The committee will therefore be meeting the Chief Minister tomorrow to thoroughly discuss the issue regarding the necessity for implementation of ILP in the State.
