Imphal, May 28 2015 :
Although Thongju A/C MLA Thongam Biswajit has been disqualified by the Speaker's Tribunal, he pledged that he would carry on and take up development projects which are already in progress as he had promised the people.
Speaking to media persons at his Ningomthong residence today, Bishwajit said that he will decide soon on whether to challenge the Tribunal's verdict in Court or prepare for mid term election.
He maintained that internal dissents within Trinamool Congress led to his disqualification along with two other MLAs.
"But we never went outside Trinamool Congress ," claimed the disqualified MLA.
Holding mid term poll would entail extra expenditures for the State's exchequer and this may retard development of the State.
Moreover, the three Assembly segments (Thongju, Thangmeiband and Wangoi) would be compelled to bear the financial burden which usually goes together with Assembly elections.
The judgement of the Speaker's Tribunal was kept reserved for a long time before it was announced yesterday all of a sudden, he remarked.
Th Bishwajit said that he is fully confident of fighting by-election, if it should be held.
He decried that some people celebrated over the tribunal's verdict at two places within Thongju A/C yesterday.
