Committee formed to look into installation of power sub-station

Kakching residents have formed an Adhoc Committee for the protection of Angaan Ching Eco Park and to urge the government on changing the site for the proposed installation of one 33/11 KV power sub-station on land at the cost of more than 150 fully grown trees.
The committee was formed after a meeting held on Wednesday.
The meeting also extended support to the letter submitted to the MD of Manipur State Power Distribution Company Limited (MSPDCL) with regard to proper selection of site for the installation of a new 33/11 KV power sub-station.
The meeting asked the MSPDCL to look for an alternative site.
in the letter forwarded to MSPDCL MD, Alliance for Development Alternative, Manipur (ADAM) President Prof N Rajmuhon Singh and Secretary Surjit Kshetrimayum said that the proposed site is already occupied and being used as administrative block cum project office of the Angaan Ching Eco Park since 2005 after giving due information to the authority concerned.
ADAM said that an environment impact assessment is urgently required before taking up any work as there is enough Khas land available.
