DoNER Minister envisages 18-hr power supply for State

Targeting to supply 18 hours of power supply daily to the power starved Manipur, the Central Government has decided to set up a 400 KW power station at Thoubal district.
This was announced by the Union DoNER Minister Dr Jitendra Singh in a press conference held at the conference hall of the Secretariat South Block, Imphal on Thursday.
The minister was here on a one-day visit to Manipur.
Dr Jitendra also said that the said Manipur Chief Minister O Ibobi has shown interest to this project.
He added that the cost of the project will be Rs 140 crore and it will be funded from various sources.
He hoped that the project will be a grand success as it was also successful in the State of Gujarat.

Highlighting the achievements of the Narendra Modi-led NDA Government which has completed one year, Dr Jitendra said that the Centre is focusing on the development of the region, and the upcoming Sports University at Yaithibi Loukol of Thoubal district is a good example of that.
He hoped that more and better sports players will come out from the State with the opening of this university, and added that the university will solve the problem of unemployment of the youths of the State to some extent.
In the press conference, Dr Jitendra Singh also addressed the issues on improving road and air connectivity of Manipur with the rest of the country.
He announced that the inter-state ministerial teams of both Civil Aviation and Road Transport & Highways will take up necessary steps to adding late night and early morning flights at Imphal Airport.
He also highlighted the various schemes of social security, economic and psychological welfare being taken up by the NDA government as achievements of the government.
Dr Jitendra Singh also met with the Manipur Chief Minister I Ibobi today afternoon and talked on various developmental projects of the state.
Later in the day, the DoNER Minister was warmly welcomed by BJP Manipur Pradesh leaders at the state unit office at Nityaipat Chuthek, Imphal.
There also, he also spoke to mediapersons regarding the various developmental works being taken up and planning to be taken up in the state by the NDA government.
