Over 1.64 lakh affected by floods; missing man found dead

The current floods and landslides in the state have affected more than 1.64 lakh people across 643 localities, with one person confirmed dead and four others injured, according to the latest Daily Situation Report released by state authorities on Tuesday evening.
The report said the state experienced light to moderate rainfall in the last 24 hours.
The number of villages affected surged significantly, with 469 villages newly impacted on Tuesday alone, nearly tripling the previous day's total of 174 .
As per the official data, a total of 1,64,879 individuals have been affected so far.

The number of houses damaged stands at 35,193, of which 24,716 were reported in the past 24 hours.
Meanwhile, the latest fatality was reported after a man, who had been missing since Saturday, was found dead.
The deceased has been identified as Takhellambam Ibochouba alias Nongbal (55), who was swept away by the Abulok River.
His body was recovered on Tuesday afternoon by volunteers of Arambai Tenggol from Lairenkabi Mamang Leikai area.
Four persons have been injured as per official report with 3,917 individuals evacuated from flooded areas so far.
The state has also recorded the loss of 64 animals and damage to crops spanning 82.79 hectares.
Rescue and relief operations have been intensified, with the National Disaster Response Force, Army, State Disaster Response Force, local police and fire services actively engaged across the state.
A total of 77 relief camps have been opened to accommodate displaced residents, with food, drinking water, and medical supplies being distributed to the affected.
The report also noted 102 instances of landslides, with nine new landslides recorded in the last 24 hours.
Infrastructure damage has been reported at 52 locations.
While floodwaters have receded and no rivers are currently overflowing from breached embankments, flood waters continue to inundate new localities outside the river channels.
Notably, areas up to Khongman Mangjil Zone 4, which were not previously flooded, got inundated on Tuesday.
Rescue efforts are ongoing in various parts of the state including Heingang, Ahallup, Wangkhei, Thambalkhong, Kongba, Nongmeibung, and Khurai.
Civil volunteers from Arambai Tenggol and other local organisations are working alongside state and central agencies.
One young woman trapped with her family in neck-deep water in Kongpal Hijam Leirak expressed gratitude to Arambai Tenggol and Sayol volunteers for safely rescuing them after other teams missed their location.
SDRF in coordination with the district administration of Imphal East evacuated several people from Wangkhei, Porompat Pong Lambi, JNIMS, and Thambalkhong.
A total of 78 individuals, including children, pregnant women, and hospital staff, were evacuated from JNIMS alone.
The 12 battalion NDRF also evacuated 51 individuals from Wangkhei, Ningthem Pukhri, and Kongpal Mamang Sabal Leikai since morning.
Manipur Fire Service team also rescued many residents stuck in Kongba, Khurai, and Nongmeibung areas.
According to the Water Resources Department's detailed flood report issued at 6 pm Tuesday, Kangpokpi (head of Imphal River) recorded 8:00 mm of rainfall in the past 24 hours.
Litan (head of Thoubal River), Raj Bhawan, and Lamphel each recorded 1.00 mm rainfall.
Jiribam received the highest at 10.00 mm.
Other stations, including Saikul (head of Irang River), recorded no rainfall.
River water levels recorded at 6 pm on Tuesday showed the Imphal River at Minuthong flowing at 785.950 metres above mean seal level which is over the warning level, and above the flood level at 781.450 metres at Lilong Bridge.
Nambul River at Hump Bridge was flowing at 781.950 metres, above the warning level, while Nambol River at Nambol Bridge was above the flood level at 774 metres.
Meanwhile, flow of the Iril River at Irilbung Bridge was below warning level at 785.750 metres, as were the Thoubal River at Thoubal Bridge at 776.150 metres and the Manipur River at Ithai Barrage at 768.750 metres.
All gates of the Ithai Barrage and Imphal Barrage, except Gate No 5, are fully opened.
Gate No 5 remains fully closed in both locations.
Samushang regulator is fully closed, while at Thoubal Barrage, only Gate No 3 is partially opened by 0.20 metres, with all other gates closed.
Meanwhile, volunteers of Indian Red Cross Society, Manipur State Branch are joined the rescue efforts and evacuated several flood affected people including pregnant women from Soibam Leikai Meri Leirak on Tuesday.
Volunteers of Sayol Foundation also provided relief materials to both civil rescue workers and flood affected people in different parts of Imphal East district on Tuesday.
On the other hand, breached banks of the Imphal River in Sekmaijin Hangoon Awang area under Mayang Imphal AC was plugged in a joint efforts by the Water Resources department and local volunteers on Monday night.
The effort was carried out under the aegis of local MLA Kongkham Robindro and WRD commissioner N Geoffrey.
At least 57 relief camps have been opened for affected people mostly in Imphal East district, which is the worst flood-affected district in the state.
Several localities in Imphal, and many parts of Imphal East district have been inundated after the swollen Imphal river breached embankments and overflowed in Khurai, Heingang and Checkon areas.
