Sit-in protest continues against killing of S Sarat

Sit-in protest continued to be staged for the third day against the killing of Soibam Sarat of Sorok Atingbi Khunou allegedly by Kuki militants with Meiri Club Meira Paibi and Maheikhulen Meira Paibi organising a protest at Sorok Atingbi Lamlong Keithel, here, on Saturday.
Speaking to media persons, one of the protestors, Heisnam Ranibala stated that the protest has been staged against the state government for its failure to translate assurance of apprehending the culprits in two weeks' time, which it had given on June 9 to the JAC formed in connection with the murder and the people of Jiribam.
They have also decided to intensify their agitation if the government does not arrest the perpetrators involved in the killing of S Sarat at the earliest, she warned.
Ranibala further appealed to the government to resolve the present crisis affecting the district as soon as possible as public wants peace.
During the protest, agitators held placards and chanted slogans such as "why hasn't the government arrested killers of Sarat", "we condemn government's silence on Sarat' murder", "no compromise on Manipur's integrity", "go back Kuki refugees", "Justice for S Sarat", "no separate administration", etc.
