Altogether 30 women who were released from Manipur Central Jail Imphal were provided with sewing machines and certificates, during a simple function held at the premises of the jail, yesterday.
They had completed 6 month vocational training on tailoring and embroidery under Manipur State Women's Development Corporation Ltd (MSWDCL) during their time in jail.
Speaking as the chief guest of the function, MSWDCL, Chairperson, S Satyabhama Devi said that the corporation has been providing training on tailoring and embroidery to the women inmates since its establishment so as to facilitate their rehabilitation after release from the jail.
She then urged all women who have received machines and certificates to properly utilise their skills so as to lead a self reliant lifestyle.
The programme organised by Manipur Central Jail Imphal was also attended by Manipur Central Jail Imphal SP, A Kunjakishore, DSP, SK Vartika and Social Welfare Department Director, Ngangom Uttam as dignitaries.
