A team from Manipur People's Party (MPP) has inspected the Indo-Myanmar fencing construction by visiting Moreh in Chandel district on Sunday.
The MPP team included party Vice President M Amutombi; Vice President (publicity) N Ojit; General Secretary (organization) S Dilip; Secretary Publicity Ch Joykumar; youth President S Machang, youth secretary (administration) Th Sarju and Secretary Md Murni Khan.
The MPP delegation visited Govajang village, Pillar Number 79 at Muslim Basti, Haolenphai village on the Indo-Myanmar border where the party leaders interacted with the village chief of Haolenphai on the status of the border fencing construction.
The villagers are now worried about the prevailing impasse between India and Myanmar over the disputed border fence, the village chief told the MPP team.
He said a bulk of Haolenphai village population would become Myanmar citizens in near future if India allowed the neighbouring country to encroach on the village.
MPP leaders also expressed concern over the undecided Indo-Myanmar border fencing issue and called on the Manipur Government to look into the matter at the earliest for a logical conclusion.
The leaders of Manipuri Muslim Council, Moreh (MMCM) said that the present Indo-Myanmar fence has encroached upon a play ground of Haolenphai.
The villagers also lamented that a well constructed road has been repositioned in Myanmar section of the border.
MMCM expressed gratitude to the MMP team for overseeing the present status of the boundary of the State to assert the original border line of the Manipur sector of Indo-Myanmar border.
