URF, KCP (KK Nganba) women cadres nabbed

Imphal, June 06, 2014: Imphal West District Police Commandos and women police Imphal West arrested one woman active member of URF organization, namely, Nongthombam (N) Laishram (O) Minthoi (30) alias Thoi Devi w/o (L) Laishram Bhagirath Singh of Thambal Khong Laishram Leikai but presently staying in a rented house of RK Chaobi Devi of Wangkhei Akoijam Leirak from near LMS Law College, Chingmeirong on June 3, according to a press release issued by PRO, Police Department.

Investigation revealed that she was assigned to serve demand letters to different government offices and private businessmen in Imphal areas.

Two mobile phone handsets and eight demand letters signed by s/s Finance Secretary Lemba Meitei were seized from his possession.

On her disclosure, one of her associates, namely Elabi Begam (29) w/o Khairuddin alias Abo of Kiyamgei Heiningkhong but presently residing at Kshetri Awang Leikai was also arrested on the same day and seized one mobile phone handset from her possession.

A case has been registered at Imphal Police Station and investigation is going on.

On the other hand, a combined team of Imphal East District Police Commandos and 30 AR along with women police of Imphal East District Police arrested one active member of KCP (KK Nganba) outfit, namely, Irom (N) Khumanthem (O) Ibecha Devi (26) alias Abe alias Meiteinganbi w/o Kh Naobimacha Singh alias Pamel of Kwakeithel Thokchom Leikai but presently staying at Thangmeiband Hijam Dewan Leikai from Khurai in front of Popular School on June 3. Investigation revealed that in the month of December, 2013, she collected four hand grenades from a woman at Thoubal Phoudel.

On follow up action, one 9mm pistol along with four rounds in the magazine and one Chinese hand grenade which were concealed inside a Tata Magic van bearing registration no 4217 were seized from Sawombung Bazar.

A case has been registered at Porompat Police Station and investigation is going on, the release stated.
