DEOs intensifies process for Lok Sabha polls

The second randomisation of polling personnel in respect of four assembly segments of Churachandpur district was held at the DC's office chamber, Mini-Secretariat complex on Monday.
The manual randomisation was monitored by general observer for Outer Manipur (ST) parliamentary constituency Ujjwal Kumar through video conferencing.
Additional DEO Saurabh Yadav, Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) and nodal officer of the district were present during the randomisation process.
The second round of training of polling personnel (polling party-wise) will be held at Churachandpur Government College on April 5 and 6.On the other-hand, the second randomization of EVM and VVPATS for 10 assembly segments of Imphal East district for the ensuing 18th Lok Sabha election will be conducted on April 5 .
As per a notification issued by Imphal East DEO, the second randomization will be conducted at Panchayat Bhavan and gymnasium hall of Imphal East DC complex from 9.30 am.
The notification also informed candidates residing in the district as well as two each representatives of recognised national/state political parties to take part in the EVM and VVPATS commissioning and second randomization on time.
In Pherzawl district, the first round of training for presiding officers and polling officers drafted for poll duty for the upcoming Lok Sabha election was conducted at Churachandpur Government College on Monday.
During the training, the master trainers focused on effective handling of EVM and VVPAT machines, conduct of mock polling, duties of presiding officers and polling officers.
The training also included demonstration on setting up of polling stations, voting compartments and maintenance of diaries/records among others.
Pherzawl district election officer (DEO) Asish Das accompanied by district election officials shared words of encouragement to the trainees while inspecting the training session.
As part of the preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections-2024, a training programme for polling personnel in respect of Kamjong district was also held at the Kamjong Election Hall (NIELIT Hall) located inside the Mini Secretariat, Ukhrul district on Monday.
During the programme, Phungyar SDO Rang David Kung trained the polling personnel on various election related activities such as operation of EVMs and sealing of EVM machines, apart from explaining about the duties of presiding officers and polling officers, dos and don'ts of election process, among others.
A hands-on training on EVM operation was also conducted during the session.
It is worth mentioning that for the lone Phungyar AC in the district, a total of 392 polling personnel (including reserves) would be assigned election duty, of which 80 are women.
