Mapithel Dam villagers react to allegations

Reacting to a news report appeared in an Imphal based local newspaper on November 4 last, the Mapithel Dam Affected Ching-Tam Organisation (MDACTO) and the Mapithel Dam Multipurpose Project Displaced Villages Committee (MDMPDVC) have jointly issued a statement saying that the allegation made by Mapithel Dam Affected Villages development Organisation (MDAVO) of boycotting 15 office bearers of MDMPDVC is baseless and false.
In their press statement, the MDACTO and MDMPDVC have stated that a joint generl body meeting of the two organisations was held on November 27 at 10 am at Nongdam (T) village to discuss the allegations made by the MDAVO.
It said that MDACTO and MDMPDVC are not members of MDAVO, so MDAVO has no right to boycott members of the two bodies.
It further said that Mr Honreikhui Kashung son of late Hongmashung Kashung and Mr Thanmi Kashung along with others of Chadong village had assaulted and kidnalled two minor girls at Chadong village on May 8 in 2012.Accordingly, FIR was lodged for their arrest at Litan police Station.
Mr Honreikhui Kashung of Chadong village, Mr Thanmi Kashung of Chadong village, RS Sakathan of Thawai village, JS Themson of Ramrei village, and J Roshan from Rihahad destroyed 25 houses and properties at Chadong village on May 30 in 2013 at night.
They have cheated the innocent villagers, alleged the statement.
The statement affirmed that the two organisations have boycotted the five persons involved in heinous crimes and severed ties with them with effect from November 27 .
